After years of maintaining a large property in Bendigo, Judith and Geoff were ready for a change. The ongoing upkeep of their home had become a real burden, and when their children moved away, the couple began seriously considering the idea of downsizing to a retirement village. The appeal was simple, no more mowing lawns, no more tending the front garden, and the freedom to enjoy life on their own terms.
Rather than heading towards Melbourne, Judith and Geoff took a ferry across the bay and found themselves rediscovering the Bellarine Peninsula. Charmed by its wineries, restaurants, cafes, and scenic surroundings, they knew it was where they wanted to be. "The Bellarine Peninsula is how I think Mornington must have been 50 years ago," Judith reflected. "It's much less busy, but so pleasant and scenic."
After attending an information session and touring several display homes, Judith and Geoff were drawn to the Thomson, a spacious, informal floor plan that stood out from the more rigid, box-like layouts they had seen elsewhere. The open, relaxed design gave them the space to spread out and truly relax, something they hadn't felt in a long time.
Since settling into Bellarine Springs, the couple has embraced everything the village has to offer, from the Community Centre with its sweeping views over the bay, to the warm and approachable neighbours who make daily life a joy. "Everyone is so amiable and reasonable about things," Geoff said. "You get a wonderful sense of belonging, and it's easy to feel comfortable living here." For Judith and Geoff, Bellarine Springs hasn't just been a new address; it's been the platform for a truly successful retirement.
